Probably the most important home security is a gate and fence.
Before there were keys and locks, there were gates and fences. And well before there were closed circuit televisions and the more modern security devices.
The well being that one feels from a properly installed gate and fence is very real; there is also a psychological boost of well being; probably that is by now part of our genetic make up.
From our earliest recorded times, amongst Man’s initial actions in settling anywhere was to place a fence and gate. A gate defines property and ownership. It sets the limits that a stranger can approach. It protects the inhabitants and keeps the unknown and unwelcome away.
You’ll be aware of this personally when you are visiting any fenced property. immediately when you, invited, walk into the property and hear the gate close behind you, you will feel a sense of relief and calm. That sense of relief is real. You immediately feel less stress in any gated and fenced property.
These are also a real and psychological barrier to burglars! Even though a fenced-in yard and a gate across your driveway may not be very high, just the fact that your gate is there says to the would-be burglar: Halt! This is our Kingdom!
The fence and gate do not communicate a threat or menace — instead they portray confidence and stability.
Security consultants agree: properties that are fully enclosed with strong fences and gates are far less susceptible to burglarly.
There are other beneficial aspects. You’ll feel safer about your kids playing in a fenced yard; strangers are obstructed, and your children aren’t able to run out into traffic.
Your pets are contained by a fence around your property.
Also, a nicely designed fence and gate increases your property’s beauty and value.
